Of Thee I Sing

In America we don't have to agree with one another
Are we capable of seeing the other as a brother?
Rural farms vastly different from urban sprawl
Different lifestyles different needs but Americans all 

A proud country defending and spreading democracy
Believing all people have a right to live free
A social contract which included basic morality
Suddenly embracing something new and surprising for all to see 

Is our country still there
No more rockets red glare
Do love and truth still matter
Or did our values all shatter 

Freedom liberty justice democracy
Lies division hate and fallacy
Defending and spreading our way of life
Now hiding and devolved into chaos and strife 

When did the melting pot over boil
Foreigners no longer welcome on our soil
Suddenly Mexicans make us recoil
Producing our food they sweat and toil 

What are we doing to outsiders 
Farm workers and our daycare providers
Not the America we built and know
The world dismayed by what we now show 

Is our country still there
No more rockets red glare
Do love and truth still matter
Or did our values all shatter 

Do you know what to do
Or have we decided and its all through
Have we abandoned the red white and blue
Surrendering our way to the insane few 

As it is America will die
Due to fear and our ability to lie
We still have a chance still need to try

Home of the brave and land of the free
The most enduring democracy

We must live up to what we're supposed to be 

So many fought and died for our values and ideals
We must unite before our soul he steals

Let's remember we are one and diversity is good 

We may not agree with it all
But we were leaders and proudly stood tall
