I heard the shouting through the walls,

Every night it never stopped.

Voices breaking, getting sharp,

Tearing everything apart.

I stayed quiet in my room,

Holding breaths I couldn’t use.

If I didn’t make a sound,

Maybe it would all die down.

Felt like it would pull me down…
