Prompt / Lyrics
Every day’s the same, Wake up, make coffee, get ready for another day. Kids are laughing, making faces, “Brush your teeth and pack your lunch,” I say. Worship music playing softly, Little voices ask in praise, “Why does He love us so much?” I’m still learning that these days. I’m new to this whole Christian thing, Though I was told He gave everything. You ask me how I know He loves me, My friend, just look up at the sky. There are miracles all around you, Jesus bore the cross so you could fly. He paints His lessons on our hearts, Whispers truth before we start. From the beginning you were known — You were never alone. I teach my children from the Book With every story, every name. Written down but filled with choices, Different roads for us to take. “Why are there bad decisions?” My God gave us free will. More than one path before us, Yet He knows which one will heal. Sometimes faith feels hard to see, But He’s shaping who I’ll be. You ask me how I know He loves me, How our souls can tell right from wrong. His path can blur before our eyes When we can’t see what lies beyond. He sees the picture we don’t see, Working all things perfectly. Everything comes together in the end — My God, my Father, my Friend. When I don’t understand the reason, When the road feels far too long, When my faith is barely breathing, You remind me I belong. So I lift my hands in surrender, All my questions, all my fear, You were faithful in my breaking, And You’ve always been right here. Through the doubt and through the healing, Through the loss I couldn’t mend, I found love that never leaves me — My God, my Father, my Friend. You ask me how I know He loves me, I see His mercy every day. In my children’s laughter rising, In the grace that leads my way. Every morning starts again, Held within His steady hand. My God, My Father, My Friend — In the end.
