Floodgates

Held my breath for far too long,

Built my dam where I didn’t belong.

Every thought a rising tide,

Every truth I tried to hide.

Fingertips on trembling glass,

Praying silence somehow lasts.

But fractures bloom like spidered veins —

Now I’m drowning in the rain.

The pressure sings beneath my skin,

A storm I locked too deep within.

Floodgates open, let it roar —

All I buried breaks the floor.

Tears and screams become the same,

Rushing out without a name.

Floodgates rupture, I let go —

Drown the calm in undertow.

This is pain I can't contain —

Raging like a holy flame.

Whispers turned to thunder cries,

I see the wreckage in my eyes.

Every word I left unsaid,

Now floods the halls inside my head.

Tried to hold the world in place,

But broke beneath its quiet weight.

Now there’s nothing left to fear —

Just the flood that brought me here.

Torrents tear the mask away!

Let it bleed, let it fray!

I am the flood — I am the fall!

This is my voice, above it all!

Floodgates open, no control —

Crashing through the hollow soul.

What was fragile now ignites —

A war of water, fire, and light.

Floodgates broken — still I stand,

Rising with a trembling hand.

This is me, raw and true…

Drenched in everything I knew.
