Forget the Ego

I’ve been trapped inside my mind, chasing shadows, losing time

Thinking only of myself, my reflection, my own design

Caught in a mirror, seeing only what’s mine to keep

A closed-off window, into a world that’s buried deep

Sorry for the loneliness I’ve cast upon the one I love

Want to break the cycle, rise above, and lift myself up

It’s a hard road, facing what’s inside

Learning to let go, and open my eyes

Growing better, reaching higher, shedding all my selfish ways

Learning to give, to love, to live, for brighter days

Forget the ego, let it go, and start anew

Changing for the better, finding true

Every mirror reflecting a lesson I must learn

Turning focus outward, seeing how much I can earn

From empathy and kindness, filling up my soul

Becoming selfless, making others whole
