Prompt / Lyrics
Pharisees plotted, schemes in the night, To seize the Messiah, dim His light. But hands were stayed, by a power unseen, A time appointed, a celestial scene. Stones raised high, in furious attack, Yet met with a shield, on a divinely ordained track. "His hour not come," a whisper through the crowd, Destiny's script, spoken aloud. Before Pilate's court, a different stage, Authority questioned, in history's page. "No power have you," the Savior declared, "Except what's given," a truth to be shared. From the Father above, the ultimate say, In the drama unfolding, come what may. The cross awaited, a sacrifice grand, In God's perfect timing, salvation at hand. Gracious God, our shield, our guide, From deceit's tide, where truths hide. Grant us grace, Your light to see, In honesty, set our spirits free. In Jesus' name, we seek Your way, To speak the truth, in all we say. Rescue us from falsehood's snare, In truth and love, our cross to bear. I pray False witness borne, in days of old, A mirrored fate, a story told. The accuser's doom, the accused set free, Justice measured, for all to see. Daniel's trial, a den of dread, His foes cast in, their fate instead. Wives and children, a tragic fall, For deceit's echo, consuming all. Lies spun now, to climb and gain, Or dodge the blame, escape the pain. A habit formed, a tangled web, Where truth is lost, and conscience ebbs. Self-deception, a dangerous game, Convincing hearts that wrong's the same. But echoes linger, consequences loom, In the halls of justice, sealed by doom. I pray Off the stand, no oath to bind, Lies unfurl, a twisted kind. Trust erodes, a fragile thing, When truth departs, and shadows cling. The liar's plight, a lonely road, In mirrored doubts, their soul corroded. Half-truths whispered, a subtle sting, More venomous than outright swing. Daniel's foes, a crafted snare, Laws bent to break, beyond compare. Innuendo's dance, a veiled attack, Reputations shattered, turning back. Neighborhoods, politics, even the church, Where falsehoods thrive, and spirits lurch. Though lies may fade, unnoticed, unseen, God's watchful eye, forever keen. Gracious God, You rescue us from the deceit of others. Give us the grace to be truthful at all times. In Jesus name, Amen. I pray
