Grief and Gratitude

I’m sitting here again, in this same old car,

Where I once begged for light, while drowning in the dark.

The night I tried to give up, the nights I cut too deep,

I screamed to You, God, take it all, just let me sleep.

But here I am today, tears falling just the same,

Not from pain that breaks me, but from healing’s flame.

I feel the weight of loss, the cost to stand and move,

A heart rebuilt by grace, still tender but renewed.

With grief and gratitude, I lift my hands to You,

For all I’ve lost and all You’re making new.

I’m standing on this edge, unsure but holding true,

Walking forward now, with grief and gratitude.

This road ahead is new, four hours from my home,

A season full of change where I must walk alone.

I carry scars and memories, both heavy and so sweet,

But in this quiet moment, Your peace is all I need.
