What We Do

Born in a land that values being free

A land of comfort, drugs, and prosperity

A place full of abundance and lots of poverty

A place where the homeless are everywhere you see

We all know that money ain't growing on a tree

But so many hoard riches a life about whats in it for me

One day we all die

We'll be summoned to the sky

Challenged did we try

And have to answer why

There's no ability to lie

So think now when you buy

Are we helping others to get by

Comforting those who cry

Hearing the painful sigh

If not forever you may fry

Are you living lifes dance

Enjoying abundance

Ignoring and closing the door

To the disadvantaged and poor

Have you watched on your T V

How ICE is in a big blue city

Chasing down grandmas and kids

Not for anything they did

We are terrorizing our guests

Treating humans like pests

Immigrants and refugees

Wanting to survive and thrive they seek our mercies

Instead we treat them like a disease

As they live in fear they may be seized

Climate change is very real

Its something with which we all have to deal

It may cause many to move or to flee

That may not work out well given our history

Doors may be slammed in our face

They may despise our opinions on refugees and race

We're witnessing a national disgrace

Acting with hatred but no grace

Are you living lifes dance

Enjoying the abundance

Ignoring and closing the door

To the disadvantaged and poor

Its time to wake up America and see

How we will be looked at through history

Pray that you never become the immigrant

And recognize we are acting ugly and ignorant

Give refugees a place to stay

Replace your heart of clay
