Each day the sun rises
Seldom new surprises
Some goes right some goes wrong
Days too short days too long
Turn a knob fresh water flows
End most days with television shows
Have a car but gas prices are high
So many reasons to stress and wonder why we try
Modern issues modern stress
Will they like my hair is this the right dress
A woman we know but never met
Has a small radio no television set
She drags a jar nine miles for a ration of brackish water
Its been two months since she buried her daughter
Real world issues real world stress
How long can one survive in this filth and mess
Just off our shore the poorest you'll ever see
Living in the mud yet no water to drink in the land Haiti
The wealth we have amassed the greatest treasure ever seen
When it comes to Haiti of each one here no hands are clean
Big picture issues big picture stress
One whines over discomfort but for others couldn't care less
Tax breaks for the super wealthy
Luxuries and food to keep us healthy
Some have so much money for themselves
They would remain super wealthy even after building every Haitian family a house
This isnt sustainable and a moral weight
Solving an issue like Haitian poverty then America would be great
We don't worry about the Haitians
Instead we worry about sending migrants back to their nations
We build up mistrust and animosity
Personal comfort allows us to ignore what we don't want to see
Take off the blinders open your eyes look and see
we're creating more problems than we're solving and must ask is this really who we want to be
