Prompt / Lyrics
(Verse 1) In classrooms old, where dreams took flight, A boy named Jake, a beacon of light. Dark hair, blue eyes, a heart so kind, Raised with grace, a treasure to find. "Yes, ma'am," he'd say, with a gentle plea, Annie watched him, captivated and free. Little did she know, his heart yearned too, Prom night whispered, secrets anew. A melody bloomed, a love song to impart, Words of devotion, straight from the heart. (Chorus) "Annie, be mine, let our souls entwine, Annie, hold my hand, through space and time. Stand by my side, as stars ignite, I'll give you my all, my love, my light." (Verse 2) Years flew by, like whispers in the breeze, Jake in uniform, beneath the war-torn trees. Duty called him, to lands afar, Leaving behind, his guiding star. A daughter's tears, a bittersweet embrace, He wore a brave face, in that sacred space. Ten months had passed, since their last goodbye, When shadows fell, beneath a somber sky. Men in black, with heavy tread, Brought news of sorrow, a love declared dead. "Ma'am, we're so sorry," the words hung low, Annie's world shattered, a heart in woe. "No, it can't be true," she cried in despair, But a letter arrived, a final prayer. (Chorus) "Annie, thank you, for being my light, Annie, thank you, for holding me tight. For standing by me, through darkness and pain, I'm glad I gave you my all, again and again." (Outro) And Annie wept, as the tears did flow, For a love lost too soon, a heart laid low. In memories cherished, their bond would reside, A love eternal, forever to abide.
