That cross

I had ended my three year ministry.

And the time had come for me to leave.

I sweat drops of blood in that garden.

i knew there was no other way to defeat sin.

My heart is for all of you who are lost.

And Because I love you, I will go to the cross.

I hung on that cross with you on my mind.

I hung on that cross for all of mankind.

I hung on that cross for all to see.

I hung on that cross for you to be free

I heard their cries to crucify me.

They whipped me as I carried that tree.

​While the nails went in I couldn’t breathe.

The women were weeping at what they’d seen.

It is finished, I said.

And with that I took my last breath.

I hung on that cross with you on my mind.

I hung on that cross for all of mankind.

I hung on that cross for all to see.

I hung on that cross for you to be free.

I’m here now tugging on your heart strings.

I rose and defeated the death sting.
