Veil Between

The air is thin, the light unsure,

Shadows bending through the door.

Every step distorts the ground,

Every breath distorts the sound.

I see two skies above my head,

One alive and one long dead.

The border sways like ocean glass,

Between the future and the past.

Fingers reach through unseen seams,

Pulling at the threads of dreams.

Something waits — patient, unseen,

Here in the veil between.

The veil between is breaking wide,

Worlds collide on either side.

I can’t tell which one is mine —

The waking or the dream’s design.

Whispers spill through fractured air,

Speaking names that aren’t aware.

The mirror shakes, the edges tear,

And I am caught half here, half there.
