Peace Begins
by Robert Ramage
Intro
(soft piano or clean guitar)
Peace begins…
When you stop fighting what’s already gone
And start listening to what it taught you.
Verse 1
I used to live in yesterday, replaying every frame,
Trying to undo the choices, wearing all the blame.
But time won’t bend, and scars won’t fade
Just because I wish they’d disappear.
What’s done is done, the past is sealed,
But the road ahead is still right here.
Verse 2
Every moment left a mark on me, some gentle, some severe,
Some taught me how to stand back up, some taught me when to fear.
I learned my strength from breaking down,
My boundaries from the pain,
I learned some hearts you hold too tight,
Some you gotta let walk away.
Chorus
Peace begins when the fighting ends,
When you stop chasing ghosts that never bend.
You can’t change the past, but you can choose
What kind of man you’re becoming through it.
Take the lesson, lay regret to rest,
Life’s ahead—it’s not a test.
Peace begins when you let it in,
And start learning… instead of living then.
Verse 3
Learning doesn’t mean I’ve forgotten
All the nights I barely made it through,
It means I see them clearer now
Without the anger clouding truth.
I won’t punish my own heart forever
For mistakes I can’t rewrite,
I’ll carry wisdom, not the weight,
And walk forward into the light.
Verse 4
I take responsibility for healing now,
Not reliving what I can’t repair,
I don’t owe my future to my past,
Just an honest lesson learned back there.
Every step I take today
Is proof I finally understand,
I’m not who I was when I fell apart—
I’m who I am because I stand.
Chorus (bigger)
Peace begins when the fighting ends,
When you stop chasing ghosts that never bend.
You can’t change the past, but you can choose
What kind of man you’re becoming through it.
Take the lesson, lay regret to rest,
Life’s ahead—it’s not a test.
Peace begins when you let it in,
And start learning… instead of living then.
Bridge
Life isn’t behind me calling my name,
It’s in front of me asking who I’ll be.
I won’t stay trapped in a moment that’s gone,
I’ve got more road underneath my feet.
Outro
Peace begins when you keep moving on,
Eyes forward, heart still strong.
The person I’m becoming needs me now—
Not stuck in regret…
But walking proud.
