first thought

I used to speak before I listened  
Used to fight just to be right  
Built my walls with good intentions  
But never let in light  

I thought I knew what truth was  
Thought my way was the only way  
But wisdom don’t shout from rooftops  
It whispers when you pray  


First thought — kept me blind  
Echoes of a narrow mind  
But now I see, now I feel  
The world is wide, the pain is real  
First thought — was just a spark  
Now I’m walking through the dark  
With open hands, with open eyes  
Letting go of old disguise  


I met a stranger with a story  
That shattered all I thought I knew  
She said, “Love ain’t just for comfort  
It’s what you bleed to make it true”  

I read the words of ancient voices  
Heard the silence in the noise  
And every time I dropped my judgment  
I found a deeper choice  


Socrates said, “I know nothing”  
And that’s where wisdom starts  
Lao Tzu said, “Flow like water”  
Let it carve your heart  


First thought — was fear in disguise  
But second thought — opened skies  
Now I’m dancing with the questions  
Not just chasing old confessions  
First thought — was just the gate  
Now I’m walking out of fate  
With every step, I redefine  
What it means to be alive
