Rise from the Shadows

In this town, shadows whisper my name,

Each street, a ghost, reminding me of my shame.

With chains of the past wrapped tight around my chest,

Trying to escape, but I'm feeling less than blessed.

Walking through the memories, painted in despair,

Triggers all around me, nowhere safe, nowhere fair.

They say I'm free, but I wear this burden still,

A prisoner of my past, lurking on every hill.

Pushing me forward, but they miss my fragile smile.

Caged in my healing, while they demand I run,

How can I rise when they think I've just begun?

But they can't understand what this means to me.

Conversations feel like knives, piercing through my soul,

Each word a reminder of the darkness I control.

Hope flickers dimly, like a candle in the night,

Will I find my freedom or be lost in the fright?
