Prompt / Lyrics
The nights are long, the silence loud, I see their faces in the crowd. The mornings start with pain in my bones, Each step feels like I'm walking on stones. Civilians smile, but they don’t see, The wars I fight inside of me. The pain is extreme, it pulls me low, But I dig in deep, I won’t let go. I’m a veteran, built to withstand, I won’t stop ‘til I drop, I’ll make my stand. Civilians stare, they don't understand, What it takes to stop this man The pain I carry, it doesn’t fade, It's all memories from the price I paid. Civilians tell me to rest, to lay down, But I wear this grit like a soldier’s crown. The silence echoes louder than the war, But I’ve got my reasons to fight for more. Every ache, every crack, It’s a badge that says I’m coming back. No one knows the battles I've fought, The strength it takes to not be forgot. The pain is extreme, it pulls me low, But I dig in deep, I won’t let go. I’m a veteran, built to withstand, I won’t stop ‘til I drop, I’ll make my stand. The night falls hard, the memories bite, But I’ve got my grit, I’ve got my fight. The load is heavy, but so is my will, The heart of a soldier is never still. I hear the echoes, a distant drum, Of where I’ve been and what I’ve done. But I’m still here, my heart still beats, A soldier walking his own streets. I won't let the pain keep me down, Not this body, not this town. I've fought through storms, through hell, through fire, I'll stand tall, climb higher and higher. I won't stop, no, not until I drop.
