Our Great Fear

There is a strong under current of doubt

Which has me pondering of late

So many of us voting against what we're about

Sold on an ideal of being great

Always running just beneath our skin

Hidden in front of our face

A cancer of fear which fuels division

Our inability to see people not race

The America we want to see

Is the America that just can't be

There's no wayfor a nation to be great

When it can't overcome race and hate

This is not a theory to debate

There's no question if we are a racist nation

Look to the limitless and active racial hate

That our government is engaged in without confrontation

The idea of MAGA is fools gold

A campaign tag line and empty phrase

From a man whose lies and hate are so bold

The division and hate grows in so many ways

The America we want to see

Is the America that just can't be

There's no wayfor a nation to be great

When it can't overcome race and hate

The reality that people choose not to see

Racism is based on fear and is cowardly

When you cant accept your fellow man

When the nation acts out of cowardice and fright

Theres no question that in no way we can

Be great or strong or be right

If you want America to be great

If you can rise up and overcome your weakness

If you can accept love and support not hate

Then we can claim pride and say we've been a success

For now its there for all to see

We are weak and in fear and breed hate

We need to wakeup and understand we aren't free

And are on a path which will ensure we are not great

If MAGA is the lie you are living

Theres still a chance to regain decency

Stop hating start accepting and forgiving

And we will be on a path to great and brave and free
