State of the Union

Im not sure which is true

Has good permeated a bad world

Or is a good world invaded by bad

Does it matter? I'll leave that to you

Its easy to think the world's gone mad

Its a far cry from what we once had

There seems to be something heavy and dark

So many people I know seem to have lost their spark

What does it matter, what can it mean?

Is this a moment in time, or the end of scene

Economic inequality food insecurity

Questionable morals and a lack of maturity

We are numb to violence and when it comes to social justice we're full of silence

Brutal wars with no end in sight

we're either actively involved or supporting the fight

Climate change, the world's on fire

A narcissist leader who's a hate filled liar

Its our world its your life

Do you enjoy the struggle, enjoy the strife

Time rushing by days disappearing fast

We either act soon or our time won't last

We are closing borders to block the immigrant

Our attitude and hospitality shows we're ignorant

Restricting movement telling people stay out

We create enemies and our leadership is in doubt

The wars crime hunger and climate creating new refugees

We are not isolated this is not a problem over seas

Its a harsh reality that me may one day need assistance

If we don't change our habits we may face harsh resistance

Its our world its your life

Do you enjoy the struggle, enjoy the strife

We either act soon or our time won't last

We are entitled and feel we've always been right

In the world we are entering America has lost her might

The only solution which we must start now

Is the be kind and caring and live up to our vows

We need to welcome the migrant and treat all with respect

Or know that when we seek help we may not get what we expect

There's no way to overstate the peril we may be in

We can't procrastinate or delay when we begin

The fight for survival will be won or be lost

By actions and attitudes not a burden of cost

We judge and are racist. Malign and are opressive, we must move forward collective, forget being selective, why the lack of love the hate and locked borders, these actions are deadly in this new world order, take a deep breath and remember our values or the result will be death and we will all loose
