He came home grinnin’, said, “Surprise!”,

Held up a dress two sizes wide.

The tag said “small,” but bless his heart,

He never was good with that part.

I could’ve snapped, said, “Take it back,”

Rolled my eyes at his little lack.

But instead I grabbed my sewing kit,

Thought, “There’s more love I can make of it.”

I cut that dress in careful squares,

On mine I stitched “Love” in bright blue.
