Shadows of Trust

Oh, I see the game you play,

Always in the shadows, never in the fray.

With every smile you fake,

I wonder how much more will it take?

They say love's a game, but I’m always left out,

In a room filled with voices, I'm lost in the doubt.

They look right through me, like I'm just a ghost,

While I'm pouring my soul, they never get close.

I’ve worn my heart like armor, but it’s tearing apart,

In this circus of clowns, it's a twisted art.

Expectations high, but reality bites,

I keep reaching up, but they dim all the lights.

Am I just a fool for believing in trust?

Love’s not a game, but it crumbles to dust.

All these jokers dancing, they play their part,

While I’m just a pawn with an open heart.

Promises made in the dead of night,

But daylight’s revealing there's never a fight.

All of my patience, all of my time,

Just a punchline to the world's cruel rhyme.

If honesty’s the currency, it's bankrupt here,

While illusions of love drown in oceans of fear.

With every tear fallen, I question my role,

Is there room for a heart in this jester’s stroll?

Am I just a fool for believing in love?

With a heart on my sleeve, can I rise above?

All these jokers laughing, they play their charades,

While I’m stuck in the shadows, forgotten in shades.

One day I'll escape this masquerade,

Leaving behind all the games that they played.

I'll find a queen, a light from the dark,

But first, I’m reclaiming my own little spark.

So here's to the battles, the scars and the strife,

I’ll no longer chase what’s just not in sight.

With my armor of hope, I’ll stand up and say,

Not just a player, I’m paving my way.
