Breathing Through the Fall

One moment I’m flying, sky full of light

Next I’m swallowed by the edge of night

Smiles in the mirror, cracking underneath

Nobody hears it when I forget to breathe

I can’t explain what shifts in me

I’m a stranger to my sanity

This is the storm behind my eyes

Where silence weeps and daylight dies

Highs like fire, then lows like stone

I burn, then freeze, all on my own

I’m spinning wild, then barely move

This is a truth I never choose

But in the dark, I softly call

I’m still breathing through the fall

I shut the world out, light feels too loud

Fade into whispers, lost in the crowd

The weight is nameless but so real

A shadowed ache I always feel

Some days I shine, some days I fade

Held together by threads I fray
