A man lies in his bed
Frail, crippled and old
A woman lies in her bed
Young, vibrant, and bold
As the pain comes from inside the man
He moans
As the sharp pain stabs the woman
She groans
The man slowly inhales the air,
Working hard to fill his chest,
While the woman pants heavily,
Very much aware
That the pain won't give her a rest
Then, an infant wails
Proclaiming life
And the man's heart slows
As he looks at his wife
Ten little fingers and toes wiggle about
As you hear the joyous people shout
An Angel of death takes the man's hand
And an Angel of life, let's go again
The man slowly slips away and is gone from here
The infant slowly slips in and appears without fear
Two souls passing in time quietly
Life and death both whisper softly
So, the cycle of life begins,
And the cycle ends
