Our world in turmoil
Hearts minds and tensions boil
Its natural that we recoil
As their blood saturates the soil
Its the innocent who die and bleed
Starving children the world is unable to feed
A devastating and evil deed
While America sits impotent and unable to lead
Are you challenged to hold your head high
Do you still feel pain, do you still cry
Too many on this planet suffer horribly
Nowhere to hide, we share the blame equally
Floods quakes wildfires are all the norm
No one immune from the super storm
Threats to our peace safety and stability
Humans are the cause its been proven scientifically
Violence on our streets more guns than citizens nationally
Everyday body counts rise for all to see
Politicians fail to mandate or make a decree
We watch children on TV terrorized as they try to flee
I try to ignore the dystopian apocalyptic feeling
I ind it hard to accept this reality, it keeps me reeling
Are you challenged to hold your head high
Do you still feel pain do you still cry
Too many on this planet suffer horribly
Nowhere to hide this effects both you and me
It seems there's no end and violence will increase
No sign that those in power even want peace
No one giving up their firearms
We'll see an increase in who that harms
In our streets we face our own military
The militarization of the big city
American troops being used against the citizenry
An authoritarian move not subtle but obviously
The economy is in danger, not long term viable
Even our government is no longer be seen as being reliable
All we have is eachother and our individual skills and wits
But there's reason to stay strong as we absorb the hits
Are you challenged to hold your head high
Do you still feel pain do you still cry
Too many on this planet suffer horribly
Nowhere to hide its no time to be cowardly
Look around get outside and you will see
A planet which is incredible and filled with beauty
Do your best to be kind do what you can
To see the grace the good and beauty in your fellow man
