Brain feels callous
Hands like leather
Hearts of malice
Float like a feather
Fox news declares its all disorder
War crime and violence at our border
In our streets in cities and small towns
Real people living real lives behind their frowns
Whats the deal then in the big city
It must be chaos and blood something to pity
Right wing media insists it is all shitty
Everyday something to say they think is witty
Brain feels callous
Hands like leather
Hearts of malice
Float like a feather
The reality and truth lives in the street
In our big cities where cultures meet
Diversity and backgrounds collide
They work live love and suffer side by side
Art and culture date nights so sweet
Love and community is not a treat
Its a way of life and our everyday
Open your eyes open your hearts to the U.S.A..
Brain feels callous
Hands like leather
Hearts of malice
Float like a feather
The news isn't always good
But media now doesn't do what it should
Skewing data propaganda and flat out lies
No concern for the damage or who dies
And all consumers of this media stream
Are participating in killing the dream
Think for yourself use common sense
Feeble minds are no defense
Intelligent people falling prey to fear
We are living that which shouldn't happen here
Brain feels callous
Hands like leather
Hearts of malice
Float like a feather
Wake up America remember and be
Real patriots and the land of the free
Love and acceptance should define this country
Not belligerence fear and authoritarian loyalty
Think for yourself instead of obeying your T.V.
America is still great strong and proud
We shouldn't be ashamed to say that out loud
Our big cities are jewels for visitors to see
And we find joy and beauty in diversity
Do you define yourself by the media you hear and see
Or do you see and think and are actually free
Our nation is in peril because we forfeit thinking to a talking head
Join in freedom and exercise your right to think without fear instead
Minds are free focused not on fear
Open hearts and minds driven by goodwill and cheer
Think for yourself not just what you hear
The answer to fixing America may be found in your mirror
