We can see the tears

Recognize the fears

A life in turmoil

Leads them to new soil

Families split

Pain and fear legit

No money constant violence

They make their trek in silence

Immigrant or refugee

Seeking a better life or forced to flee

A hard way to have to live

Real people with something to give

We don't like to work in the fields

Farmers rely on their hands to gather yields

If we block them out crops will rot

And prices will rise for produce bought

Refugees come out of desperation

Seeking a kind and safe nation

They don't come seeking charity

But are hoping to regain their dignity

Immigrant or refugee

Seeking a better life or forced to flee

A hard way to have to live

Real people with something to give

Its a shame the way we abuse them

Malign and hate or sometimes use them

No warm welcome or offer to assist

We put them in cages its no way to exist

What does this say about you and me

The land of hope and liberty

Only to find that is not real

They're treated like animals their hope we steal

Real people with something to give

There's no invasion or dire threat at our border

Lies told to cause fear division and disorder

It is no great mystery

We are not living up to our identity

Ask yourself what if it was you

Orced to flee not knowing what to do

So you head to a land you thought was kind

To discover they're heartless callous and blind

Fellow Americans we're better than this

Or are we heartless and don't give a piss
