A Dream

I opened my eyes and saw the gate

I was standing in the clouds up above

I knew this must be heaven and my fate

I wanted to see the one who stole my love

There was a movement,

A shadow of some kind

I thought of all those I had loved before

The ones that had gone and left me behind

I wondered if I, too, had passed through deaths door

Toward the gate and the shadow I ran

I was hoping and wishing it was you

My heart raced,

and the tears began

It was almost like I knew

Yes,

You were there waiting for me

With your halo and robe of white

You were so lovely to see

I wanted to hold you so tight

But just as I reached out to touch you

I was blinded by the brightest light

Once again,

I opened my eyes to see you

But you were gone,

Gone with the night
