Mildness

The storm may rage, the world may shout,
But peace within will drive doubt out.
I’ll answer calm, not quick to flame,
And give to Jehovah’s name no shame.
A gentle word can heal a scar,
While anger drives true love afar.
So I will pause before reply,
Let patience lift my heart on high.

Jehovah, teach me to be mild,
Like Christ, your faithful,  child.
Your mildness, pure and calm and true,

When harshness tries to take the lead,
I’ll whisper prayers in time of need.
Jehovah hears the meek one’s plea,
