The streets cry out echoes of pain
Wàlls crumble ash falls like rain
Jerusalem weeps her heart in two
A city of gold now gray and blue
The prophets warned the trumpets screamed
But they laughed chasing their broken dreams
Now silence reigns where songs once flew
A shattered past what will God do
The watchtower stands a ghost in the wind
Stories of glory buried in sin
The Temple's gone but His throne remains
Sovereign over our joy and pains
We are jars cracked and flawed
Still He holds us the breath of God
Shall the clay ask why am I made
Or trust the hands that never fade
Tears of clay He molds He breaks
Hands of power He gives He takes
Nations rise nations fall
He's the potter shaping it all
Tears of clay the dust will speak
In His hands the strong the weak
Hope from ruins His voice will call
He's the potter shaping it all
Jeremiah
Voices in the alleys they echo like ghosts
Preachers in the dark spinning tales they boast
Silver tongues dripping venomous lies
The sell you the sky but it's smoke in disguise
Prophets for profit their words are a game
They burn the truth but they stoke the flame
A house of cards built on sinking sand
When the storm rolls in it won't withstand
They traded their gold for the weight of the mud
Turned rivers of peace into torrents of blood
The harvest is barren the fields don't yield
The shepherds are scattered lost in the field
The watchtower shakes the trumpet screams
Wake up from your nightmare these aren't just dreams
A covenant broken but mercy remains
Through fire and ashes love still sustains
Oh can you see it the writing in flame
The promise of hope in a forgotten name
Warnings shouted can you hear the sound
The walls are falling crashing to the ground
Disobedience cuts rebellion’s knife
But a new heart's written a brand new life
Jeremiah
Oh city of gold now covered in dust
The cries of the children echo in the streets that was
How long oh Lord will you turn away
My tears are a river flowing endlessly astray
Like clay in His hands he molds and he shapes
Though broken and flawed he never forsakes
He'll tare down the old building something new
Trust in the potter He knows what to do
Beware of the voices that promises you ease
They speak of peace but their hearts breed disease
They lead you astray with their flattering words
Seek the truth let your own voice be heard
We broke the covenant turned from His way
Now we carry the woke heavier each day
Our pride and our stubbornness led us astray
Is there hope for redemption can we find our way
He'll write on our hearts His law we will know
A new covenant of love a seed He will sow
Forgiveness and grace a chance to begin
He'll heal our wounds wash away our sins
Jeremiah
