Prompt / Lyrics
Let's dive into Proverbs, chapter eleven, verse four, Where wisdom drops truth bombs, knockin' at your door. Riches ain't nothin' but fool's gold in the end, When wrath's day comes, they can't defend. Stacking up paper, chasing the cream, But when the storm hits, it's all a bad dream. That fancy car, that bling on your wrist, Can't buy you out when judgment's kissed. But righteousness, that's the real key, Sets your soul free for eternity. More precious than diamonds, a treasure untold, In the face of death, it keeps you bold. When the storm clouds gather and the wrath descends, Earthly treasures offer no defense. Righteousness alone breaks the chains, In His grace and love, true life remains. Folks be piling up riches, thinking they're set, Trusting in dollars, place their biggest bet. But even with people, cash ain't the key, Can't buy your way out, gotta face reality. Some judges stand firm, won't take a bribe, No shiny gift can sway their tribe. And those you've hurt deep, with actions unkind, No amount of money can ease their mind. So how you gonna think, when God's wrath is poured, That your earthly treasures will be adored? Nah, fam, it ain't working, that plan's gonna fail, Only righteousness can lift the veil. When the storm clouds gather and the wrath descends, Earthly treasures offer no defense. Righteousness alone breaks the chains, In His grace and love, true life remains. Man can chase paper, stack it to the sky, But salvation's something that money can't buy. Can't appease the Lord with earthly gain, Offering riches would just be in vain. Good works and prayers, they ain't enough, Self-infliction ain't that tough. Only one thing can quench the fire, Lift you up and take you higher. It's the blood of Jesus, the Son above, That shows us the ultimate love. On that alone, I place my trust, In His sacrifice, so righteous and just. When the storm clouds gather and the wrath descends, Earthly treasures offer no defense. Righteousness alone breaks the chains, In His grace and love, true life remains. Proverbs 11 4 Lord, though a man gain all the money in the world, he could not buy salvation from you. Your anger against sin cannot be appeased by any riches that men might try to offer, and the offer itself would insult your holiness. Nor can good works, long prayers, or self-affliction avail anything. It is only the blood of your Son Jesus Christ that can quench the fire of your wrath. In that alone I ever trust. Amen. When the storm clouds gather and the wrath descends, Earthly treasures offer no defense. Righteousness alone breaks the chains, In His grace and love, true life remains.
