He was the ripe old age of 8 when he got that gift.
Every year it had been on his Christmas list.
He would play superhero with his friends at the park.
That new cape would add the perfect spark
As he grew older that cape looked so small.
He looked down on it and remembered it all.
He picked it up and choked up a bit.
Now there lies a cape with no hero in it.
Oh capes come in all different sizes
And the ones that wear them never realize
That they are the ones we look up to.
They give it their all with everything they do
And that’s why we need heroes.
It was a dark day when she heard a knock at the door.
When she looked out the window, she could feel the cold floor.
She knew why they had come and with her eyes filled with tears, memories flashed by in seconds of the last 20 years.
He knew the price he and his family would pay.
But she never would have dreamed of this day.
he was their hero for all of his life
And now he had paid the ultimate price.
He always lived life with no limits.
Now there lies a cape with no hero in it.
Oh capes come in all different sizes
And the ones that wear them never realize
That they are the ones we look up to.
They give it their all with everything they do
And that’s why we need heroes
he was up on the cross and gave his last breath
For us he had died a brutal death.
But When he rose up from that grave
And buried darkness in the tomb that day.
He left that linen cape behind.
And the glory of his presence shined.
And now upon the throne he sits
And there's a cape with no hero in it.
Ohhhhh. Praise God there’s no hero in it.
