The book of Judges

They came in shadows they rose through strife
Judges to guide the spark of life
From Ehuds blade to Deborah's grace
Through battle and trial they found their place 
Samson's strength and broken vows
A lion roared but he struck it down 
In riddles deep in love betrayed 
His hands brought ruin his heart delayed 
Jephthahs promise carved in stone 
A heavy cost to claim his throne 
Through broken lives and hearts of fire 
The tale unfolds of hope and desire 
Gideon trembled but took his stand
With a lantern light and a soldier band
The story flows through loss and gain
The judges ruled in joy and pain 
Rise up leaders through the night
Hold the torch and fight the fight 
Wisdom's voice will light the way
In the judges land where heroes stay
Chariots of iron carved the plains
A judge would rise to break the chains
In shadows deep their courage grew 
The old were wise the brave were few
Deborah rose with battle's cry
Under her watch the enemy would die
Barak beside her hesitated long
But with her fire they sang their song
Gideon hid behind his doubt
Angels call he couldn't shout
With trumpets blaring shouts and jars
He broke the night and scattered scars
Samson strong his downfall near
His eyes were lost his heart unclear
From sweetest love to bitter ruin
He crushed with hate and God's undoing
The cycle spins round again
Doubt and faith on different ends
When they fall they rise once more
The judges knocking at the door
