Half the Man He's Been

He’s up before the sunrise, boots hittin' the floor

Coffee in one hand, and a will to do more

Raised us up with busted hands, never missed a day

Didn’t have much, but he showed us the way

He held it all together when the world came unglued

Built a home outta nothin’, made broken things new

A quiet kind of hero, never wore a crown

But he’s the reason I can’t stay down

Maybe I’ll carry that kind of weight

Maybe I’ll stand a little more straight

He makes it look easy, but it’s a hell of a climb

Saw him hold a broken heart and still smile through the pain

Watched him give his last dime and never once complain
