Just a Thought Away

I know my death came as a painful shock to you
The worst of my pain and fear you never knew
The nights were so long, they seemed to never end
The pain was so bad, I felt I could never mend
The sun no longer brought me the kind of joy that it once did when I was just a young boy
I believed my life was just a horrid mess
But I felt too guilty to ever confess
I had reached the point of being so far in debt
And it seemed I was always causing you to fret
The anger raged within my body so bad
And my mind, so much turmoil it had
The evils of alcohol had a grip on me that day
And the anger took over me in such a way
You believe that I died, gone forever from you
But actually, I was born, given life a new
I'm in God's arms, living in his home
I will never again feel the need to roam
All my pain is gone,  never to return again 
I have finally found a peace that will never end
I am never hungry, I never need a drink
I'm free of the alcohol,  I've found the missing link
Please don't cry for me, I've finished my earthly journey
I'm home in heaven now, you've no more need to worry
The Lord says I've earned my angel wings
He gave me a halo and angel dust and things
I'm with you always now, I know you can feel me
And you'll find me all around if you only believe it to be
I'll wash your tears away with the rain 
I'll kiss you gently with the breeze
I'll paint your smile with the flowers
And show you a rainbow to ease your pain
I'll shine the moon over you at night if you please
And the sunrises and sunsets will always be ours
I will be with you always, do not fear
In the thunder, you will find my laughter you can hear
I'll always be just a thought away
Until we meet again in heaven one day
