Once invisible and unknown
A humble dweller from a poor street
But you healed hearts and love was sown
You cared deeply and soon we would all meet
The doorman from the hall of dances
A model of love we got to know Francis
Some missteps for all to view
But those moments were very few
Your heart humble and true
Watching you we always knew
You cared and loved all especially the poor
You lived not lofty but with feet on the floor
Modeling a life in the Savior
We were taught by your behavior
You saw the institution was aging and weathered
You showed we must not be tethered
By old an outdated ritualistic norm
You opened the door for a path to reform
Thank you for your guidance and your love
Rest in joy and in peace up above
A giant of the papacy
Pope Francis was love for all to see
