Prompt / Lyrics
I woke up this morning, head spinning 'round, Last night's decisions weigh me down. The bottle's empty, but my mind’s still full, Of the choices I made that were far from cool. I thought I was fine, thought I could drive, But I lost control, now I’m lucky to be alive. It’s a hard truth, one I had to face, But it’s too late now to turn back, to erase. I was driving drunk, thinking I could see, Blinded by the buzz, too careless to be free. I didn’t think about the lives I could take, Now I'm wishing I had just made a different break. Don't let the wheel be your last ride, It’s not worth the cost when you’re driving blind. The road's a blur, the headlights bright, I thought I was safe, but I was losing sight. A car honks loud, I swerve too late, A crash, a wreck, now it’s my fate. I’ve hurt the ones I love, I’ve caused them pain, All for a drink, I’m left with shame. I can’t take back the damage I’ve done, But I’ll speak out now so no one else runs. I was driving drunk, thinking I could see, Blinded by the buzz, too careless to be free. I didn’t think about the lives I could take, Now I'm wishing I had just made a different break. Don't let the wheel be your last ride, It’s not worth the cost when you’re driving blind. You think you’re fine, but you’re not in control, One wrong move and it’ll take its toll. So please, think twice before you drive tonight, Don’t let the darkness steal your light. I was driving drunk, thinking I could see, Blinded by the buzz, too careless to be free. I didn’t think about the lives I could take, Now I'm wishing I had just made a different break. Don't let the wheel be your last ride, It’s not worth the cost when you’re driving blind. So don’t let it happen, don't fall the same way, Make the call, take a cab today. It’s not worth the ride when the road’s so blind, Don’t risk your life, or someone else’s behind.
