MY ADHD and I

Someone once told me

I write songs in a cryptic way

It seems it's about one thing

Then by the end it's switch from when it started to play

But apparently it's not a bad thing

And actually it's kind of cool

Cos then it means you gotta listen

From the start all the way through

To get the gist

No parts can be missed

It's like a grocery list

That's not in order what a twist

But not too badly ya shake ya fist

Ya just get a little bit pissed

I swear I don't do it purposefully

I genuinely just start writing

Then the words keep flowing

And next thing it went from shit to exciting

So I carry on writing the song

Hoping in the end it all makes sense

And even if it doesn't I just try to find

Words that rhyme the end of each sentence

And hey I'll be honest it's not really

That often I completely

Fuck it up so bad I end up totally deleting

Everything I write cos I'd rather write a line twice repeating

I imagine that would actually feel so defeating

So that's probably why the song

Changes from the start as it goes on

And why it ends up being quite long

Cos of how often my rhymes go to Hong Kong

Because of my A D H D

I keep on getting distracted

Can't focus for more than 10 seconds

if I do it can get totally fractured

Into 4 lines

At a time

As long as somewhere

Theres a rhyme

That way

It's a lot easier to stay

On track

when there's a rhyme in what I say

So here it is the reason I write

Songs that change like day and night

Cos my brain has so much going on

And that's why I like to write these songs

And why they tend to go on and on

Sometimes about absolutely nothing

Or about so much, so strong

Its like I'm bluffing

When a simple 2 lines

would probably suffice

Fuck I wish I could write shit that simple
