A silent guest, with footsteps soft and deep,
You come unbidden, at the fading light,
And gather all within your final keep,
Where day dissolves into unending night.
No earthly power can your claim deny,
Nor wealth nor beauty can your touch evade,
You level all beneath a starless sky,
And leave behind the memories that fade.
The strong, the weak, the joyful, and the sad,
All bow at last before your solemn face.
Though hearts may break and earthly hopes be had,
You lead us gently to a timeless space.
A mystery veiled, a journey yet unknown,
You claim us all and make us truly one.
