Prompt / Lyrics
In stone and song, the Temple rose so high, Solomon's vision, reaching for the sky. Wisdom poured forth, a river clear and bright, Guiding his people, day and through the night. But pride crept in, a serpent in the grass, Foreign gods beckoned, shadows start to mass. The heart divided, turned from sacred vow, Darkness descended, where light once did glow. Idols arose, in places meant for prayer, The kingdom fractured, burdened by despair. From heights of glory, a fall so hard and deep, A broken promise, secrets he would keep. The Temple stood, a witness to the fall, Of a king who lost it all beyond recall. A lesson etched in history's stern face, That power and wisdom need God's guiding grace. Second Chronicles When shadows fall and darkness veils the light, And trials test the spirit's strength and might, A whispered prayer, a humble, earnest plea, Can pierce the heavens, setting spirits free. Like Asa cried, when armies marched as one, He sought no strength but God's will to be done. Or Hezekiah, facing certain doom, He turned to God, dispelling all the gloom. Repentance flows, a cleansing, healing tide, Washing away the stains that we can't hide. A broken heart, a contrite, tearful eye, Brings forth compassion from the realms on high. For in the turning, in the bending low, A deeper mercy starts to gently flow. So let us seek, in every desperate hour, The boundless grace of prayer's unfailing power. Second Chronicles The throne ascends, a king with crown so grand, A nation watches, fate held in his hand. Some walk in light, like David's righteous way, While others stray, and lead their flock astray. The cycle turns, from grace to bitter fall, As pride takes root and darkness covers all. But hope remains, a flicker in the night, A chance to rise, and set the course aright. Like Josiah's call, to tear the idols down, To seek the Lord, and claim His holy crown. Revival's fire, a burning in the soul, To mend the breach, and make the broken whole. So let us rise, and heed the ancient call, To turn from sin, and give our all. For in repentance, strength and purpose blend, A new beginning, that will never end. Second Chronicles
