Guardians of the Night

In the whisper of the night, shadows sing,

The rustle in the leaves, a gentle thing.

A red glow moves closer, soft and bright,

In the still of the dark, it flickers in sight.

Warmth surrounds, but it feels so strange,

A creature hovers, caught in a range.

I breathe in silence, my heart skips a beat,

I gasp and freeze, a moment divine,

A piercing light, sent from above.
